Celebrating the 2026 Mahdesian Family Scholarship Recipients

Announcing our new scholarship recipients is always one of the highlights of our year at Servicon. This year we’re proud to introduce eight students who are part of our team’s families and are chasing goals that mean a great deal to them.

Each of these students is connected to a Servicon employee whose work matters to the people and places we serve. Getting to support their kids and grandkids through school is one of the best parts of what we do. It’s a promise our founder, Richard Mahdesian, kept his whole life: that education opens doors, and that caring for our people means caring for their families too.

Meet the Recipients

Rhonda Alexander — Graphic Design

Rhonda, from Atlanta, Georgia, is the daughter of Servicon Cleaner Rhonda Alexander. She’s well on her way to the creative design career she’s had her heart set on.

“No matter what life throws your way, just keep the faith and continue to pray.”

Ean Grajales Villamar — Health and Human Science

In Los Angeles, Ean is studying health and human science with plans to become a physician assistant. His dad, Edwin Grajales, is a Housekeeper with Servicon.

“This scholarship brings me one step closer to my goal of being a physician assistant. I am deeply grateful for this opportunity and look forward to using my education and skills to serve and make a positive impact in my community.”

Jasmin Herrera — Psychology

Jasmin, from Sylmar, California, is the granddaughter of Felipe Ramos on Servicon’s Service team. After her psychology degree, she plans to earn a Master’s in Social Work and become a social worker.

“This scholarship means so much to me and my family because it helps ease the financial burden of college and brings me one step closer to becoming a social worker. As a first-generation college student and the first in my family to attend college, this opportunity is especially meaningful to my grandpa and me.”

Joaquin Mejia — Business

The son of Operations Supervisor Jose Mejia, Joaquin is studying business in Pico Rivera, California, with his sights on a career in business management.

“Thank you for the opportunity for this scholarship. This means a lot, and I’m proud to have earned this.”

Wendy Ordaz — Biology

Gerardo Valdez Blanco — Structural Engineering

Gerardo is the son of Maria Del Carmen Blanco Salgado, a Custodian with Servicon. He’s from Panorama City, California, and studying structural engineering, a field that suits his knack for working through tough problems.

Zuleyka Hidalgo — Biology

We’re glad to welcome Zuleyka back as a returning recipient. The daughter of Servicon Housekeeper Silvia Rosa Hidalgo, she’s from Palmdale, California, and studying biology on her way to becoming a physical therapist.

A Shared Spirit of Opportunity

Together, these eight students are following a wide range of paths, and every one of them is chasing something they care about deeply. Seeing that up close is a real joy for all of us at Servicon.

Supporting education has always mattered here, because it’s how we look after our employees and their families. Carrying on the legacy of our founder, Richard Mahdesian, we’re glad to help this next generation get closer to the futures they picture for themselves.

To our recipients and their families, congratulations. We’re proud to be part of this moment with you, and we’re rooting for you.

About the Servicon Mahdesian Family Scholarship Fund

Established in 2022, the Servicon Mahdesian Family Scholarship grew out of Richard Mahdesian’s belief that education creates opportunity. Working through ISSA Charities, we offer $2,500 tuition awards to qualifying students. Eligible schools include:

  • A four-year college or university
  • A two-year community college
  • A certified trade school.

Eligibility

Applicants must be a child, stepchild, adopted child, or grandchild under the legal guardianship of a Servicon full-time employee. The Servicon employee must:

  • Work at least 30 hours per week
  • Be an employee in good standing
  • Have completed at least one year of service at the time of application.

Applications go through the ISSA Scholars website, with all required documents due by the annual deadline. Scholarship funds are applied directly to tuition and paid to the school.

Looking ahead

Applications for the 2027 scholarship cycle will open next year, and recipients will be notified in June. For more information or help with the application process, please reach out to your supervisor or contact [email protected].
