Servicon Publishes First Annual ESG Report

Leading Commercial Cleaning Services Provider Does Well by Doing Right

Culver City, California – April 22, 2024 – Servicon, a leading family and women-owned and operated environmental services and commercial cleaning services provider, has released its inaugural environmental, sustainability, and governance (ESG) report.

Servicon is a privately held company, so the move to issue an ESG report is not stockholder-driven.

Introducing the report, Servicon CEO and President Laurie Sewell explains the company’s motivation:

“This report is a testament to our unwavering commitment to contributing meaningfully to sustainability, conducting and growing our business responsibly and ethically, and empowering and enriching the people and communities we serve, all while delivering exceptional value to our clients. Our journey is fueled by our company’s overarching purpose—to elevate the industry and provide healthy environments for people to thrive—which serves as our guiding principle in everything we do.”

The report is based on Servicon’s four pillars of ESG:

  • Opportunity. Creating opportunities to empower and support our employees to thrive and fostering a workplace environment that embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion where everyone feels respected, understood, and that they belong
  • Community. Contributing to systemic change and supporting development among disadvantaged communities to promote education and training, health equity, employment opportunities, and food equity
  • Sustainability. Implementing environmentally responsible cleaning and facilities maintenance services and business practices focused on reducing, reusing, and recycling to protect the environment today and into the future
  • Ethics and Integrity. Being accountable from the top down by leading with integrity and honesty, conducting business ethically and fairly, and complying with all laws and regulations while setting the same expectations with our business partners.

Servicon’s ESG report includes data on everything from employee retention rates, compensation, and staff diversity to greenhouse gas emissions, completed training hours, and much more.

“The inaugural report marks the beginning of our formal journey,” says Servicon Head of ESG Initiatives Maritza Aguilar. “We’ve been doing these things, like using green cleaning and taking other environmentally responsible actions, caring about and developing our employees, contributing to the communities where our employees work and live, and operating as an ethical company. We have always believed in our mantra of ‘doing well by doing right.’ It’s in our company culture and DNA, and we’ve been doing them without thinking about it as a collective effort. So, the company leadership decided to look at all we do in these areas and create a formal ESG strategy. The 2023 data will also give us a starting point we can build on and tell us where more effort may be needed moving forward. Also, at Servicon, we pride ourselves on looking ahead and staying ahead of the curve. We want to be leaders, and not many companies, especially private ones, in our industry have a clear, transparent ESG strategy.”

Servicon Administrator Anna Rabinovitch adds: “Publishing an ESG report and being transparent creates a sense of pride and trust in our employees and customers who know we don’t have to do one. It tells them we care about them and care about doing the right thing for them and the future of our world.”

The 109-page report is being publicized through emails, social media, and other marketing materials to employees, clients, vendors, and other stakeholders, and the public. It can be viewed and downloaded from the Servicon website, servicon.com/2023-esg-impact-report.
