Leading Commercial Cleaning Services Provider Does Well by Doing Right Safely
Culver City, California – May 10th, 2024 – Servicon, a leading environmental services and commercial cleaning services provider, has achieved a .83 experience modification rate (EMR) score, well below the 1.0 industry average safety standard.
EMR is the numerical score insurance companies use to determine a company’s risk level. A company with an EMR lower than 1.0 is viewed as a lower risk based on its better-than-average safety record. Servicon attributes its impressive rating to the company’s culture of safety.
Servicon published its safety score as part of its inaugural environmental, sustainability, and governance (ESG) report. The ESG report also noted that 92% of all Servicon employees completed their monthly Training Toolkits on time.
“Workplace safety is important to Servicon because our employees are our No. 1 asset,” says Servicon Safety Director Carlos Janer. “We do whatever we can to prevent injuries and create a safe workplace environment for our employees and clients. Our safety performance can be attributed to everyone’s belief in and commitment to a Servicon core value: ‘Never Sacrifice Safety.’ This value is a guiding principle behind everything we do. The company owners, all levels of management, and frontline workers are fully committed to creating a culture of ‘Safety First,’ where we do things safely because we want to and not because we have to.”
Safety First Training
Servicon’s Safety and Risk Assessment program covers a broad array of topics including OSHA regulations and compliance, fleet and driving safety, chemical and equipment use, site hazard identification, and more. Training is conducted at all staffing levels in-person, on-site, and online. For example, Servicon has developed 24 Safety Toolkits to provide employees with drilled-down, detailed training twice per month on specific topics such as handling workplace emergencies and hazards, minimizing sharps injuries, and effective reporting. Delivery drivers undergo a robust certification course as part of Servicon’s Fleet Safety program. All supervisory employees participate in an in-person supervisor safety course that covers how to create a safety culture, train others on safety, safe equipment use, safety program overviews, and incident response procedures.
Servicon also researches, tests, and, when appropriate, adopts new technologies and equipment innovations that:
- Create safer working environments
- Reduce workplace Injuries
- Limit exposure to harsh chemicals
- Enhance productivity.
