Head of Finance for Leading Commercial Cleaning Service Company Named a Finalist
Culver City, California, August 23, 2024 – Servicon, the nation’s leading WBENC-certified women-owned and operated environmental services (EVS) and commercial cleaning services provider, is proud to announce that Servicon Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Eugene Moorcroft is a 2024 Los Angeles Business Journal (LABJ) CFO of the Year Award nominee.
According to LABJ, “The CFO Awards recognizes L.A. County finance professionals for their ongoing efforts and contributions to their organizations. Given the challenging and ever-changing economic climate, CFOs serve as essential members of a company’s core leadership team.”
The CFO Award recipients will be named in a ceremony on September 26, 6 p.m.– 8:30 p.m., at the Biltmore Los Angeles.
A Background in Finance
Moorcroft joined Servicon in 2021 as Controller. He was promoted to acting CFO in 2022 and then officially assumed the position in January 2023. The speed with which he achieved this promotion is hardly surprising given Moorcroft’s 24-plus years of experience in strategic and financial planning and analysis, controllership, compliance, and accounting in the entertainment and facility maintenance industries. He has served in many high-profile finance positions, including as vice president-controller for Sonar Entertainment, vice president of finance for Glide Rite Corp, head of finance for Amazon Video Direct Publishing, and executive director of studio finance for 20th Century Fox. His earlier work history includes public accounting and internal auditing.
David Saunders, managing director of Conexus, a nationally recognized top-tier financial recruiting firm, who has gotten to know Moorcroft and his work, nominated him on behalf of Servicon.
“When LABJ accepted my nomination, I felt humbled and thought, ‘Wow, this is pretty cool,”‘ Moorcroft says. “I know I have made an impact at Servicon, and It’s nice to have my hard work recognized and acknowledged outside of Servicon.”
Moorcroft explains the “why” behind his nomination: “Servicon has been in business for 50 years and has done really well, but the company has reached the growth point where it needs more standardization of processes and procedures. I have had the opportunity to help it become more professional in implementing things like better budgeting, KPI tracking, and other systems. I get to work on developing these standards and systems in spades every day. It’s gratifying; it’s why I really enjoy my work.”
Moorcroft’s contributions to Servicon are well recognized by its owners and senior leaders. “Eugene has been a great asset to Servicon in so many ways, including setting up processes and procedures as we continue to grow,” says Servicon President and CEO Laurie Sewell. “He is taking Servicon to a new level and helping us elevate the industry by setting an example of a best-in-class finance department. We are so proud that he has been nominated for this award in recognition of his outstanding commitment to Servicon and the CFO profession.”
