The Role

As the Director of People & Culture, you will play a pivotal role in creating and implementing various initiatives to inform and enhance the employee experience.  Reporting to the Chief People Officer, the Director, you will oversee a variety of efforts including policy administration, employee relations, goal setting, performance management, talent assessment, calibrations, workforce, and succession planning.  You will collaborate with the Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, and Learning & Development teams in the design and delivery of HR solutions across a broad spectrum of technical and leadership topics.  In addition, you will lead the HR Business Partner team in providing value-added, consultative partnership to business leaders.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Provide counsel and advice to leadership teams on strategic talent issues.
  • In partnership with key stakeholders, design and implement the enterprise talent management strategy to attract, engage, develop, and retain top talent to achieve our strategic priorities.
  • Implement processes and programs that drive a positive full life-cycle experience for all employees.
  • In collaboration, develop and implement Workforce Planning strategies which effectively support business growth and ensure capable bench strength is readily available.
  • Elevate the team responsible for “high touch” people experiences, such as on-boarding, performance management, retention practices, and general People & Culture programs.
  • Become an expert on our business, practices, and align strategies to the business priorities.
  • Collaborate with the L&D team to assess, develop, refine, and implement customized learning solutions.
  • Analyze internal data (engagement survey results, feedback from employee listening activities) and external benchmarks to provide insight and recommendations to business.
  • Develop trusted relationships with leadership teams and guide management to positive outcomes.
  • Keep current with best practices by conducting research, attending workshops, and partnering with outside resources to stay informed about the changing talent landscape.
  • Champion change initiatives and support communication of the “WHY/WIIFM”.
  • Serve as final authority on corrective action and termination decisions.

What It Takes to be Successful

  • Extensive experience leading all aspects of an HR function, including employee relations, performance management, learning and development, talent acquisition, administration, and compliance.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills with the ability influence and create consensus-based support for decisions.
  • An unwavering commitment to ethics, integrity and doing what’s best for people.
  • Must be a thought leader with experience developing & leading a team of professionals.
  • Understand our business and how your role drives alignment and execution of priorities.
  • Strong knowledge of California labor law, unions, and collective bargaining agreements.
  • 10+ years of HR Business Partnering with proven leadership and influencing skills.

  • Experience working in a large operational driven environment.
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • A reasonable estimate of the current base salary range for this position is $165k-$225k. You will also be eligible for annual cash bonuses based upon performance and other factors. Actual compensation offered may vary depending on skill level, experience, and/or education.
