The Role

As an Assistant Director, Environmental Services (EVS), you will manage a team that may include a combination of technicians, supervisors, and managers. You will be responsible for a healthcare/hospital site that is medium to large with complexity, responsible for delivering best-in-class outcomes for patient, families, clinical staff, clients, and Servicon’s leadership team.

What You Will Do

  • Establishes and reviews standards and work procedures for all EVS team members in accordance with established policies and practices of the facility.
  • Assists in maintenance of all statistical data and reporting systems, as required, including measuring productivity, and using software platforms as needed to produce productivity reports, and generate cost effectiveness.
  • Using software platforms, plans work schedules, hours, areas of work, and job duties to ensure appropriate coverage of all areas, and matching key periods of activity (i.e., discharge key times) to labor hours for best results.
  • Interviews, selects, hires, trains, develops, and evaluates EVS supervisory and management team that are direct reports.
  • Performs designated rounding with team members, noting successful areas and performance, as well as correcting areas that need improvement.
  • Conducts regular EVS meetings and communicates interdepartmentally to drive successful results. These may include patient satisfaction, Infection Prevention practices, safety behaviors, operational excellence, client satisfaction, and contract compliance.
  • Schedules major project work, assuring that adequate staff and supplies are available.
  • Is responsible for overall operation of the hospital’s EVS department, working with hospital and Servicon leadership when needed.
  • Assist the EVS Director with hospital’s EVS annual budget.

What It Takes To Be Successful

  • 6+ years of experience in Environmental Services in a healthcare/hospital setting, with a minimum of 4-5 years in a healthcare EVS leadership role.
  • Strong work ethic, drive, and ability to lead and take initiative.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication and active listening skills. Demonstrated capabilities to operate with empathy.
  • Analytical skills, ability to run relevant data reports, with conclusions & resolution.
  • Ability to work under pressure when needed, achieving desired results.
  • Proficient with a variety of technology such timekeeping systems, Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel), and financial acumen.
  • AA or bachelor’s degree, or comparable experience in a healthcare leadership role
